NaPoWriMo: Day 7

Trying to finish before 12pm tonight, attempted different prompts, I like Janet Rogerson’s prompt but went through about 11 wikipedia articles trying to find one I liked enough. Which I don’t think is how you’re meant to do it but yeah. Here’s a short piece for the napo prompt, not at all as convincing as Susan L Daniels piece, but true to life :D.

You practise swimming on a beanbag

your arms and legs negotiate the air.

In water we compare speeds,

releasing jet trails of small waves,

you cast around for the smooth resistance.

You might be chasing the horizon

inside the room’s four walls,

wearing googles above water,

do you dream in light filled bubbles?

Prompt: Write a poem in which each line except the last takes the form of a single, declarative sentence. Then, the final line should take the form of a question.
