NaPoWriMo: Day Five

I’ve been knowing the visiting times of North Manchester General, Oldham Royal and Manchester Royal Infirmary a lot lately, and these cinquains echo that.

Cinquains for Day Five.

old toast

the hospital

is warm and stale like breath

recycled, ballooning hot lungs

fresh crumbs

Please wash

your hands before

you enter the ward’s room

alcohol wash soaks each palm’s lines

and codeine pills

and paracetamol

this litany repeats each day

head dull

Some other napo’ers cinquains:

Day Five: This, only this. (

  1. I echo what Susan says. So hope your visits diminish 🙂 and I didn’t even know what cinqs were so I’ve learned something! Take good care. Nicky
